A Prayer of Comfort for People Living with AIDS

Apokathelosis Holy Father, Physician of our souls and bodies, who knows the strength of the spirit and the weakness of the body of each of us, You who out of love for Your creation condescended to take on flesh and the suffering of humanity, bring peace which comes only from You to me, Your child who is in need.

Comfort me in this moment of seeming loneliness and make Your presence known to me that I may not despair, but grow in the knowledge of Your salvation as I endure the trials of this illness.

Stretch forth Your ever-healing hand and bring calm to the physical and spiritual infirmities from which I suffer.

Enlighten and bless the physicians and care-givers ministering to my infirmity, in order that they might with sensitivity and love carry out diligently the tasks necessary to relieve the present pain and uncertainty caused by this disease.

Guide, support, strengthen and console those who share in the pain of my suffering and allow them, through their love for me, to shed tears which are a gift from You for the cleansing and regeneration of our souls.

O You who reach out to the lonely, the suffering, and those in need, hear my prayer and bring comfort to me Your servant, through the prayers of Your holy Mother, our blessed and Glorious Lady, the Theotokos and Ever Virgin Mary, and of all the Holy Unmercenaries, have mercy upon me and save me. Amen.
